Mei by Fat Spoon : A Japanese Dime at Desa Sri Hartamas

Situated at a quaint nook of the buzzing Desa Sri Hartamas, Mei by Fat Spoon serves Japanese-inspired dishes that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also very fresh to whet our lunch-time tummy rumbles.

Mei by Fat Spoon is definitely no strangers to the foodies of the social media, as they know what foodies love and cherish — pretty food and lush cafe decor. As we walked in, we were pleasantly greeted by an open-concept space, with crisp white pieces of furniture, with pops of marble and wood here and there. Plants such as succulents were placed sporadically around the cafe that added on to the serene feel to it.

The menu boasts dishes that integrated fine quality ingredients such as torched salmon, mentaiko, beef tongue, braised ribs, and matcha. From the description of it, it was clear cut that Mei By Fat Spoon only serves wholesome clean food, without unnecessary grease and artificial flavors. Their selection of juices was the most interesting as they offered concoctions with fresh tropical fruits like coconut, dragon fruit, passion fruit and even lychee.

As for our food, we were feeling a bit dreaded hence we went for the most vibrant dishes on the menu— Summer Salmon Maki Rolls and Torched Salmon Rice Soup. The maki rolls were fulfilling and definitely one of the freshest ones we have tasted. It also justifies the steep price because nothing can outweigh freshness especially when it comes to raw food. The torched salmon cubes were as creamy as butter and the hit of the smokiness was complimentary with the miso soup and vegetables in the bowl.

All in all, Mei by Fat Spoon is definitely a winner in our books. It is a nice change from the regular wraps and salads to keep up with a healthy lifestyle. It is very apparent that the people behind Mei by Fat Spoon are passionate about serving good food, with a faultless ingredient list. Lunch hour can get quite busy however, there is not enough reason not to give this cafe a try. Perhaps after a heavy cardio session from here?
