Sala Vegan Restaurant is a brainchild of owner Fauzi who always find a huge task for good vegan food that doesn’t involve a lot of fake meat. We met Fauzi at the Sala pop-up at Plaza Mont Kiara’s Fiesta Thursday market, as we were there for a quick lunch.
We were intrigued by his selection of Tex-Mex dishes at his booth, and when asked why Tex-Mex, he simply said that Tex-Mex is one of his favourite food, recalling his time in the United States as a student, and Tex-Mex twist on vegan dishes offers flavours without compromising the nutrition.
Sala is located in the heart of Desa Sri Hartamas at Galeria Hartamas. The restaurant has a cafe-cum-diner vibe to it which makes it a cool joint to spend time with friends and family. The concept at Sala is like a deli too, where customers can pick and choose their filling and sauces of interest (for wraps and bowls) and pay accordingly. Also, that is noteworthy is that Sala portions are remarkable for a good price. Popular dishes like the mushroom burrito and falafel wraps can easily make up two meals—thus it is definitely worth it.
A vegan himself, Fauzi’s dedication and passion are evident from his dishes as each and every dish we tried was truly delicious. It is easy to forget each bite was made of purely plant-based ingredients , with no addition of additives and flavourings. Tex-Mex is big on spices and fresh vegetables, so we know we are all good at Sala.
Do drop by at Sala for a munch for a taste of vegan food you possibly may not find anywhere else in Klang Valley.
