Masks and Stories is the latest art exhibition at Artemis Art, Publika which presents recent art pieces by four visual artists from Indonesia and Malaysia who tells a story on different interpretations of human personas and depictions of the human figure. Participating in this group exhibition are Caryn Koh, Dedy Sufriadi, Indra Dodi, and Syahbandi Samat.

The common theme of this exhibition discusses the idea of the human persona – a mask, that one adopts to navigate society – and how the persona becomes an important element in storytelling within visual art.

It is a perennial coping mechanism for us to adapt in different social situations, donning different personas. Each painting exemplifies this clear as to how we observe other people is based on whatever mask they happen to have on at a given moment.
This exhibition also falls in conjunction of Artemis Art’s Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Open House, however, this exhibition will be inaugurated at 3pm on Saturday, 30 June 2018, continues its run until 29 July 2018.
