Shopping for gifts? Here’s a list for you.
Have you ever been at lost when shopping for gifts, having to resort to candy stores or bookstores when you know there’s more to gifting than just a notebook or a bar of chocolate? The next time you’re in need of a quick present, pay a visit to these one-stop shops instead.
Touted a premium ‘lifestyle emporium’, this store easily rivals an art gallery, with the abundance well-designed selection of items showcased. Each brand sold in the store is handpicked by the founders from around the world, for both their form and function. They include timeless handcrafted Turkish enamelware products by Bornn, elegant desk accessories by Ystudio of Taiwan, and quality fashion accessories by Buwu, which literally translates to ‘textile objects’ in Mandarin. Stop by for good vibes and great tea.
This store doesn’t make our list just because the Rainforest World Music Festival is around the corner but as a nod to our local design-centric entrepreneurs. The flagship store of Malaysian brands Sereni & Shentel and Bowerhaus in Publika has accessories collections for every age group and gender possible. In addition to the amazing pieces, the friendly staff are also at hand to help you customise your own pieces. Also, any pool party coming? The Playground Borneo rents out giant inflatable floats too.
We’ve covered The Batik Boutique before, but we can’t get enough of this shop, hence why it appears in this list again. Founded by Texan-born Amy Blair, the store sells all kinds of products made from batik and crafted by single mothers. Find a wide range of items, from batik homewares and shopping tote bags to eco-friendly textiles. Championing a business with a conscience, Batik Boutique also offers other local brands such as hand-poured candles by EJL Candlebar, solid cologne by Class Society, and Malaysian-themed puzzles by Loka are a few of the local brands showcased.
