Trash Hero Kuala Lumpur Cleanup at Sri Hartamas
Towards a cleaner and rubbish-free Sri Hartamas, join Trash Hero Kuala Lumpur on the 21st of July at 8.30am in efforts to raise awareness on waste management and community engagement.

Trash Hero is a global movement, run by volunteers in their mission is to bring communities together to clean and regulate waste management. Within this movement, there is also a local extension, that is the Trash Hero Kuala Lumpur, and they are here to keep your nearest neighbourhood clean and rubbish-free. Also, it doesn’t just stop there. Here’s how Trash Hero Kuala Lumpur aim to create a cleaner KL through:
- Action and Awareness. The single act of picking up trash makes a vast difference in awareness. By spending a few hours together picking up trash, people gain a profound understanding of the consequences of being careless about waste.
- Education. Children are engaged through respective programs which enable them to connect environmental values with hands-on experience. Adults also learn experientially, backed up with information and workshops provided by our volunteers. Check this out for more information.
- Sustainable Projects. Trash Hero KL also provides long-term programs that help communities to remove and better manage their waste, and strategies that will reduce the amount of waste being produced in the future.
- Inspiration. Everyone is a hero at Trash Heroes in their everyday lives. With consistently positive messaging, and a philosophy of “small steps”, we remove the barriers to change.
According to Faisal Abdur Rani who is the Head of Waste Management at Sustainable Business Network Association Malaysia and a Trash Hero himself, the residents of Hartamas who takes part in the weekly cleanup program can learn the inner workings to become a sustainable community. Collaboration like the Malaysia Ecobrickers community enables residents to reduce plastic waste going to landfills and find ways to support community projects.

Each clean up lasts about 1 1/2 hour to 2 hours, however, more often than not, this initiative plays a vital part in encouraging participants to make it a routine and it is always encouraged for each community leaders to make this a bi-monthly activity for respective neighborhoods.
