It’s when you meet someone for the first time, it takes about 7 seconds for most of us to make a judgement about you. I do it. You do it. We all do it – unconsciously. The first assessment is made by the facial expression which is the most crucial body language signal to influence anyone’s first impression. How do we do that? A simple SMILE can do the job. A smile is the best accessory you can ever wear as it is the most recognized signal to everybody. It indicates happiness and friendly attitude. It helps us to communicate with someone. It shows interest and there is much more to it.

If your teeth are yellowed or dirty, the meaning of what you say is easily misconstrued. People might look away in order to not cause embarrassment. This can cause unwanted feelings just because the other party is getting the wrong message. So, how does teeth whitening play a role in your beautiful smile? How does it help to overcome these problems?

Most people will underestimate the importance of teeth whitening but as a matter of fact, teeth whitening is and has become a necessary step in everyone’s grooming process. Everywhere you look, from your Instagram feed to all the images in magazines to the posters at your local dentist’s office, the importance of having whiter teeth is all around you. Perhaps you’re on the fence about it. You’re wondering what the hype is about and if it’s the right decision for you. Can it really have a big impact on your life? The truth is, teeth whitening is completely safe and it is a life-enhancing process that can have a positive effect on both your physical appearance and your psychological health.

Teeth whitening is a fairly simple procedure and relatively inexpensive. This procedure is something that is recommended for every patient with an emphasis being placed on older individuals. Home remedies may show some results but getting this treatment from a professional dentist will always show a better smile.

If you are a smoker, if you drink an abundance of coffee, consuming a large amount of soft drinks or wine. This could be something you should do on a regular basis. Foods also stain the teeth and no matter how much you brush, the stains gradually build up over time. You yourself may not notice right away because you look at your teeth every day in the mirror and the change occurs slowly. Others don’t see you quite as often and you can believe that they will surely notice.

There is no pain associated with teeth whitening. Some may feel slight discomfort or sensitivity when the treatment is being applied which may or may not last within 24 hours from the time the treatment is carried out. This should, however, be no more than with any other dental procedure. The resulting compliments you’ll get from your brilliant smile will far outweigh any discomfort you may have getting it done.

Most of the teeth whitening agent gel contain an active whitening ingredient which can either be carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. Once it is light activated, it breaks down into hydrogen and oxygen. The oxygen then penetrates into the enamel (first layer of the tooth) to get to the discolored molecules, breaking the bond that holds them together providing you the white and bright smile you always wanted.

Your smile is something you should always be able to take pride in. Teeth whitening is a big part of getting that perfect first impression and will go a long way in any attempt at a job interview, or relationship. It only takes a few minutes to have this done and most local dentist’s offices will offer this service. For the price you have to pay to get this done, the money is well spent. Not only will it help you get a great smile, but it will help you keep it too.
